5 Reviews on “Goody s BBQ Chicken and Ribs”
Alrighty was it good? Yes. Did it blow my mind…negative. Staff were very nice and pricing was ok. Taste wise the “bbq” chicken didn’t taste bbq’d. More like put in the oven with sauce on it. Mac n cheese, beyond bland. The curry goat was alright. I’m from Fort Lauderdale…hate to sound snobbish but when you grow up with Caribbean food in FL it’s hard to take a step back. If you’re a regular northerner then indeed give this place a try you’ll probably love it. I’ve lived in/ate bbq in TX, GA, and SC. This ain’t what I consider bbq tbh but hey the place has loyal patrons and not much competition in the immediate area.
Their soul is their curry goat. Tender, tasty, meaty, incredibly balanced. The curry goat starts happy and continues to be happy. The rice was thick partly due to the lentils, providing a base for the curry’s jhol. The cabbage was well-salted so that you weren’t bored eating it. That means they have a good vegetarian option in rice, cabbage, and collard greens.
I also tried the jerk chicken which was moist and flavorful. The spice level was medium. On another day the jerk chicken would be great. But that curry goat … that’s what I’d eat weekly.
I was sad to leave this review because I grew up in far rock and came back just to take my husband and family to eat the food I remember. The rice was mushy, the oxtails weren’t cooked all the way, the collard greens had too many stems in it and the food was too high priced compared to the quality. I think that they should focus on quality over quantity.
It is a fantastic Jamaican food spot. The food is fresh, good portions, and because of that, it’s busy – at least each time I’ve gone there.
The food is worth the wait.
I needed to bring me back to the realization of why I stopped going to this takeout restaurant, the other day I came and order the oxtail dinner and it was not up to par their was something wrong with it the taste was not there the gravy was not processed properly not sure if it was leftover from the previous night ir the person who cooked the meat before was off or no longer working for this company the point is the food was not good this is my honest experience I will have to stopped eating at this location.
