5 Reviews on “Best Hunan Chinese Restaurant”
Typical takeout Chinese restaurant. Four tables inside, small bathroom, soda cooler. Eat in or take out.
General Tso Chicken neither spicy nor sweet. Kung pao shrimp very good, shrimp lo mein very good, wonton soup exceptionally good.
This became our go-to Chinese takeout place when we were living in the Ballston Spa area for a couple of years. Friendly service and every dish we tried on the menu was great. Our favorites were the Hunan beef and the Kung Pao chicken. Also the portions are glorious – we’d easy get 2 meals out of each dish. Highly recommended!
I thought all the food I ordered was delicious! My grandfather did not like the scallop appetizer. They tasted a bit like fish sticks. I think it is the breading flavor.
The general tso’s chicken that I got here is probably the most mild I’ve ever encountered (not even slightly spicy). That being said, it was absolutely delicious. No complaints.
Edit: 5 months ago, I originally gave this place 5 stars. I’m bumping that down to 2. Probably should just do 1. Ordered general tso’s and a spring roll. The chicken was barely passable, and the rice was just not good. The spring roll was inedible, containing something I can only describe as goop. Barely halfway through the chicken, and I was sent straight to the bathroom with diarrhea. I won’t be getting food here again.
Unfortunately, I’m going to have to update my review to a one star review because of the continuing food poisoning that my partner and I get whenever I eat from this establishment. The food still taste good very good even but it makes us very sick that night or the next morning and continues to make us sick to our stomach for the next day. I’ve been eating there for years and this happened the last time we ate there and I just chalked it up to another illness, but it also happened this most recent time to both of us. I will not be eating here again. I’m considering reporting this establishment to the health department.
OLD REVIEW FOLLOWS. Great flavor in their food. Try the white meat general tsos, it’s super! So is the General Taos tofu and they’re fried rice is loaded with veggies. The spring rolls are crispy and taste like black pepper to me, surprising and delicious. Run by a really nice and friendly family.
