5 Reviews on “Franky s Souvlaki”
My go to Souvlaki truck and favorite one as well! Best in Astoria Queens! Always ask for more hero bread..you can never have enough bread!! Rain, snow or sleet this place is always a great place to have a quick bite and has great customer service! They’re also located in different parts of Queens so that also comes in handy!
We actually had gyro sandwiches at their lunch truck in Astoria years ago. Today after a museum visit I was pleasantly surprised to see the truck at Lexington and 87th. I decided to give my son a little treat so I ordered a $10 chicken gyro pita sandwich. It wasn’t busy so the guy took a while prepping and at the same time exchanged some pleasantries in the process. So far so good. In the end it was time to pay for the food. I asked if he takes credit card, he said yeah. He took my card, swiped it, gave it back to me, and said you’re all set. I was a bit taken aback because I didn’t see the amount charged nor the opportunity to sign or specify tips. But I wasn’t assertive enough to ask. A few days later I saw my credit card statement and found out I was charged $13.50 – a 35% premium! I thought that was outrageous. If the surcharge is this much he should have warned me and there should be a sign posted somewhere on the truck. I thought that was sneaky and dishonest.
I’ve been here multiple times and the food has been excellent every time. There’s a Greek truck much closer to where I live, but I choose to walk the extra 15 min just to come here. The last item I ordered was a Greek salad with chicken and it was amazing
Tried for first time . Got the chicken kebab. Flavor is pretty good but nothing special . The negatives are the value , got 3 of them over a salad and ended up being $25 with a 4% card charge. That is not worth it at all. You can go to any kebab truck that has a full meal with soups and salads and rice with pita all over Steinway and it would be around $15-18 with much better flavors. This meal did not come with any pita or extras like the competition.
There was no price given either
When I used to work in this area over ten years ago, I would always stop here for my lunch. I haven’t had it in a very long time so it is great to know that the food is still amazing. I purchased two chicken kebabs just as I have always done in the past. I’m happy with my purchase.
The owner used to cook his food using a food cart but has upgraded to a food truck 7 years ago. He has expanded to three other locations in Queens in addition to the Steinway St location. Prices are still affordable for amazing food.
