I’ve been frequenting this sushi joint for years. Both take out and dine in. Staff is always efficient and the menu is awesome! Every category covers even the pickiest non-sushi eater but I’m here for the sushi. Just saying! Fish is always fresh, avocado ball is a favorite. Lunch specials daily except Sunday’s.

A very weird restaurant. Although claimed to be a Japanese restaurant, the appetizers were named tapas on the menu, which I could very funny. Probably someone should explain the meaning and origin of tapas to the owner.

Neither the ramen nor the don rice was done properly. The chicken don rice had no sauce/juice at all, and is basically an omelette on rice. Tasted unpleasant. The ramen, you could tell from the first bite that the soup was made from ramen soup powder. Not too good.

You can tell the Japanese cuisine is nowhere near Japan, but it tasted oddly okay.

Shoshaku Restaurant is a hidden gem located in Great Neck that offers close to omakase-quality sushi in a casual setting.
    Pros:
    – Fresh and high-quality ingredients
    – Knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive staff

    Cons:
    – Small and intimate space: The restaurant is small and intimate, which can make it feel crowded at times.
    – Pricey: The sushi at Shoshaku is on the pricier side, but the quality of the ingredients and the creativity of the dishes justify the price.

Overall, I had a great experience at Shoshaku Restaurant. I recommend the shoshaku set for ($88 for two). It comes in a boat and offers higher quality sushi cuts.

Perhaps it’s one of the best sushi restaurants in Great Neck. Never disappointed regardless dine in or take out. Fish is always fresh, well cut, and added with chef’s special ornaments. On top of these, the price is very reasonable.

Pretty good local Great Neck sushi restaurant. All the sushi & sashimi is prepared fresh and reasonably priced. The restaurant is not big but plenty of elbow room nonetheless. Staff is pleasant and well mannered. Overall a pleasant experience.

My only concern for not giving a five star review is their miso soup is on the thin side, meaning lack of miso paste. In addition, the ginger dressing in their house salad is pretty watery. Maybe it was just an isolated incident, but let’s see next time.
