Stopped for an early dinner. Everything was very good! Oysters on the shell was a pleasant surprise. Salad, burger, fried pickles for myself were perfect. Husband and son were happy with their meals as well. Super sweet server, she gave my son his birthday meal on the house! Wow! Highly recommended!
Jambalaya had shredded chicken made stringy .never had like that white chicken appetizer over cook. Blue cheese burger was excellent and alligator taste like pork chewy. But we go back try other stuff.
My lady reserved a table for us to check out Nanola for a belated Valentine’s Day dinner. Being a native New Orleanian I was excited about the possibilities of an authentic restaurant of nawlins food.
So we show up and host seated us and the waitress was nice and prompt. The booth seating I was sitting in had a hanging piece of wood on it (pictured). So that wasn’t great first impression.
Waitress was kind and took our drink orders (Utica club and a non alcoholic beer). She went and found a non alcoholic beer for me which i appreciated. However the Utica club was 5$ price on the table QR code (but was 6$ on the bill)and it was flat. We let the waitress know and she said she would let the bartender know and get her another but we declined bc we didn’t want another flat beer- and we weren’t interested in anything else on the beer menu. The drink was not removed from our final bill. I also had black bits floating in my water. Might need to clean the ice machine 🤷
Secondly, we looked at the menu and I was excited about the gator bites but unfortunately sold out due to Mardi Gras. Menu was a bit questionable, no fried shrimp po-boy? Sautéed shrimp will make the bread soggy. Why is the catfish not fried on the po boy? Might as well just be a fish sandwich. I can make gumbo and jambalaya at home and it cost less than 17.00 so I wasn’t interested in trying anything else.
We ended up getting the pickle spears which were excellent and came out quickly.
Ultimately, 26$ later we were disappointed in the experience and decided to leave to go to another nearby restaurant. This place missed the mark for me and I won’t be coming back.
Place has a New Orleans type of vibe. So it’s a cool atmosphere. Food is decent but leans to be expensive. It’s good just wouldn’t be first choice.
Wednesday night is Dollar night and that is your best option, they are authentic. We also had a New Orleans style shrimp Creole dish which was quite good but the chicken fried pork chops were very thin, too heavily breaded and the broccoli was ice cold. The all male crowd at the bar made us feel a little uneasy and it was 90 degrees with no AC which only added to our discomfort. Considering how few people were ordering food at the time, it took way too long to receive our food after we ordered. The prices are reasonable and the wings were tasty. We are not likely to go back except on a wing night. They do have a huge variety of craft beer on tap to wash down the wings!
