I was born to be treated this nicely. They were so accommodating, brought a little stool for my purse. I got a Nuestra Dama (w/tequila) to drink and that thing was loaded and amazing. Food was also wow. Views were stunning. If you need to remember you deserve everything in the world, this is the spot
I wanted to visit this place because of the ambience and it was truly enjoyable, service was good, but the food was BEYOND disappointing and tasteless. We ordered octopus that was hard as gum but edible, tuna tartare (for which the waiter said is the best dish) and the crab we returned and asked to replace with the steak and fries. Steak was ok, nothing impressive. I understand that the prices are a reflection of the area and the guests you want attract, but at least make an effort to use proper seasoning in the food, because it’s absurd.
Le Bilboquet in Sag Harbor left an indelibly sour taste in my mouth, and not because of the food, but due to the appalling service my group received. We had a 1 PM reservation for a party of four, but when we arrived slightly late at 1:08 PM, we were subjected to a series of unacceptable delays and indignities.
Despite checking in promptly, we were told by the two hostesses to wait at the bar as there were no tables available outside. This was surprising, given our reservation. To add insult to injury, we were then urged to accept an indoor five-top table, touted as the “best in the house” because it was located in front of a doorway. When I personally went to view this so-called prime spot, I was taken aback to see no less than eight four-top tables available outside.
When I questioned why we couldn’t be seated at one of those available tables, a male manager had the audacity to tell me those tables were reserved for long-time patrons who had been dining there for over 40 years. It was now 1:35 PM, and despite our reservation and the clear availability of tables, we were still left waiting.
This entire experience smacked of blatant racism. As a black customer, I never expected to feel discriminated against at a restaurant I chose to dine at. This disgraceful behavior from the staff at Le Bilboquet is not only unprofessional but downright unacceptable. I strongly advise anyone considering dining here to reconsider, especially if you value respectful and fair treatment. This place does not deserve your patronage.
We had a wonderful time here. I still think of the heavenly steak au poivre I had. Food was delicious and service was exceptional. There was a cool breeze and our waiter gave his own jacket as blankets were not available that evening. I know that there have been many negative reviews but perhaps the management made recent major changes to the food and staff. It was a slow weekday night and perhaps that is why we had very attentive service. Definitely highly recommend. 10/10. We will be back!
We were a little apprehensive making our reservation here because we read some reviews and saw several insinuations the host/hostess was racist. However, upon arrival we were greeted in a very friendly way and seated to our table with in a minute. We asked if our party of five could be seated outside to which the host replied there was no seating available, we asked if we could wait and he responded honestly and said would be silly to wait an hour and a half for a table and he would find us a good table. When we did get inside, we got seated at a table with a big window with a great view. We really appreciated that!
The food here was one of the highlights of our trip to the Hamptons. The bread and butter was simple yet so good. We also ordered the mushroom risotto and oysters. We had had a big lunch earlier in the day so we ordered entrees to share. I shared the tuna steak with my cousin and my aunt got the Bronzino. My uncle got their signature chicken. The Bronzino was world class and their signature chicken is also signature for a reason. It was so juicy and covered in a cream sauce. we ended up getting two sides which were the mushrooms and brussels sprouts sides were $17 each, but you get your moneys worth!
If you’re in the Hamptons/Sag Harbor area you must give this place a try. Definitely a 10/10 for us!
