5 Reviews on “Friendly bites”
First time at this location. The food was very good. I had the brisket Philly cheese sandwich. The fries were thin and crispy. The watermelon juice was really good. Average prices. The staff was very friendly. There are a few tables inside if you want to eat there but mainly everyone does take out. I will be back and definitely recommend to everyone.
I work at CertaPro Painters just down the street and our entire office LOVES this place. I have tried several of their sandwiches and they are all delicious. Highly recommend!
This little gem has been my favorite takeout place since they opened in Cortland years ago. But today I was closer to their Bedford Hills outpost and the food seemed equally good when I last tried it there. So I stopped in.
Restaurants get lots of hands-on attention when they first open. Owners are often behind the counter, taking orders, making sure every single little thing is just exactly so, fresh, perfect, right. As it should be, as expected. But running a restaurant of any sort is a tough task. And then they grow. And over time attention may start to wane. Or so it seems.
Less than a year since it first opened, this tiny shop is showing signs of absentee ownership and after-school staff. The food is all still there, exactly as it was with even a few nice additions. But it’s just not as tasty, not as OHMYGOD amazing as it was a few months back. No, it’s not bad by a long shot, just nothing near as special as it should be, as it could be, as it used to be.
We both ordered sandwiches. The Chicken and Mozzarella for me and the Tuscan Turkey for Alicia. And some fries because they were exceptional last time. Both sandwiches looked just right, as overly generous as before. But looks are where the good news ended. Alicia’s turkey was tough and tasteless, my mozzarella was rubbery, and flavors were far from fresh. Everything seemed rushed and tired, less than perfect, definitely not worth the trip cross town. Even the fries were overcooked.
It might not be fair to expect perfection from a little sandwich shop tucked on the side of a nondescript strip mall. But around here there are so many good choices everywhere, why not expect the best this time, every time, wherever. Especially if you already know that this kitchen is capable of it.
When I mentioned that a previous order of chili turned out to be an overpriced bowl of well-seasoned but totally meatless beans, it was met with a shrug…. The next day Alicia sent a note off to the owners, letting them know there were problems. We thought there’d be a response of some sort. Nope, not that either.
The unending 24/7 demands of any shop are really hard, I know, I understand, but still….
Maybe it was the hour we were there, maybe the day. Whatever was wrong, the food just wasn’t right and food is the only calling card of a little sandwich shop. Of course we’ll be back because we know how good this place can be. And we hope it gets back to that.
Definitely go. Order. You won’t regret it. But before you leave, taste a bit of your sandwich to be sure it’s everything it should be….
I just had the best sandwich of my life (brisket philly) It was an explosion of flavors that remains in the mouth and brain for a long time. A little expensive 24 dls sandwich only, my finances don’t allow this very often but it’s worth it.
The counter girl smile is =⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ great place, great food, great people.
Tucked in a little strip mall on N. Bedford Road, this Latin-American-inspired eatery makes varied innovative beef/chicken/pork/turkey sandwiches on all bread types. We dined here one summer day in July. Our chicken Carolina club (10), smokey turkey club (11) – on 6-in bread with wilted lettuce – and fries (4) were good. Ideal for takeout as there are a few tables. Owner’s daughter was attentive and nice to us. Note: 3.8% surcharge for cc payment.
