TLDR: Quaint little neighborhood sushi restaurant. Small place so make a reservation. Spicy Dumpling Soup, Toro/Ikura Roll, Grand Wazoo and JUNGLE LOVE.
I’m not sure how we ended up here but we came in for a Friday night. A few locals recommended it but I was pretty skeptical to be honest. The menu just read like something I don’t care for but figured let’s try it out.
It’s small but dark and cool for a local date around town. We tried the cocktails, both had yuzu and they were pretty solid. The Spicy Dumpling Soup was very flavorful, kind of reminded me of instant noodle soup base with dumplings but not in a bad way – it was tasty.
Truffle fries and yogurt were solid. Spicy tuna crispy rice was standard.
Toro/ikura roll. The ingredients do the heavy lifting but this was great. Fatty, nice pops of salty brinyness from the roe, not too much rice.
Grand Wazoo. Spicy scallop, torched squid? Very interesting and very delicious.
Jungle Love. I don’t know what this was supposed to be. An obscure list of ingredients but this thing was TASTY. Shrimp, avocado, goat cheese, brussel sprouts, imitation crab, tuna. As strange as this sounds – this baby slapped. Most memorable bites of the night.
I went in doubtful and left knowing I’ll be back. Cheers.
Probably some of the best, if not the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life. I had the Sugar Mountain roll, and it practically melted in my mouth.
Ashley was our server and was an absolute delight. She was awesome and made some excellent recommendations. Great service and an even greater sense of humor.
Updated my review to 5 stars after they significantly improved the service!* I would have given this place 5 stars however, the service was really bad. I’m not sure if they are understaffed or not but the white girl with blonde hair who checks people in at the front had a bad and smug attitude and didn’t really care. Then the waitress was super busy and kept telling us to wait in the middle of us telling her our order, she would run off and not come back after a long time. She did apologize each time she came back though, maybe they are just understaffed and I felt like she was overwhelmed and busy.
The food was REALLY good!! Their General Tso’s Cauliflower, Fluke Carppacio, Crispy Rice Tuna and the yellow tail was amazing! Their Sushi plate was amazing as well! With a little more improvement they can really become a NYC Michelin level sushi restaurant. The ambiance was nice but could use a little more work. All the guys working behind the sushi counter were very nice, friendly, quick, and did an amazing job!.
Update: updated my review to 5 stars because their service has significantly improved. We had a server named (katy brunette waitress) she was amazing! And we tried the Beef and white truffle which probably the best thing we had. I highly recommend this place!
Absolutely love this new favorite place ❤️ beyond delicious and comfortable. The waitresses are wonderful. Service is great.
