Bakies is located in a perfect location nestled in a beautiful neighborhood. Gail , the owner and her apprentice Hanna were very friendly and attentive to our needs, helping us with our selections based on our likes. We chose apple turnovers, cinnamon rolls, pecan bars, and the Kentucky butter cookies. The Kentucky butter cookies were my wife’s favorite, with its unique moist texture and creamy, buttery taste. My favorite was the apple turnovers, they were full of apple filling with a very flaky pastry.
This unique bakery is a must see!!

Bakies made several bite sized desserts for our wedding and they were INCREDIBLE!! We got various brownies, cheesecakes and pecan bars and they were all sooo good! We had several guests tell us how fabulous they were and that they couldn’t stop eating them all night!
Bakies made our wedding cake and it was the highlight of the night! It was absolutely gorgeous and tasted amazing. Bakies made it very easy to order from out of town, and made sure my cake was delivered on time to the venue. They were able to make separate flavors for each tier, and were so communicative throughout the process. Highly recommend for amazing cakes!
Absolutely love the cake! It tasted amazing and looks amazing as well! Exactly what I wanted!! Definitely ordering my cakes from here in the future. Definitely recommend getting your cakes from here! *the smudge on the front was accidentally done by me, not them*
For the cost, the birthday cake was very average in overall quality!
The ganache was not a classical bittersweet as I had requested. That is, it was too firm and dull looking (not a proper glossy and creamy one ). It was also made with cocoa (pronounced taste and mouth feel) and not bittersweet chips/bar with heavy cream (36% fat) ; the cream giving the necessary unctuous consistency and taste to a proper ganache! Our local Harris Teeter store makes a better one!
The cake was an average cocoa one; nothing special such as a genoise, etc, for instance.
I would not use them again which is too bad as I had expected Better.
