I ordered a doberge cake to be picked up while we were driving through Mobile. It was $44 for a 7″ cake, no problem, that’s the normal rate. We picked it up, it looked good and normal. We went to cut it open hours later and it’s chocolate. Doberge is made with yellow or buttermilk cake, I’ve never had one chocolate. If I had known it was going to be chocolate cake I would have never bought it. Also, it had some kind of walnuts and what tasted like rum on top, definitely not a fan of that. I’ve never heard of nuts or rum on a doberge cake. The people in the bakery were nice and the pickup was quick and easy but this cake was not what we were expecting. Of course, we are eating it because we paid $44 for it but we won’t go back for another. I’ve included pics of the cake that I received versus what I was expecting.
Stopped in for the goodies but saw the sandwiches and decided to give them a try. The muffaletta was perfectly balanced and very good. My husband heated it up in the microwave in the store and thoroughly enjoyed. I had the chicken salad sandwich and it also was very tasty. You can make those into sandwiches into meals that include chips and a drink for a very reasonable price. The folks were very friendly and answered all the questions we had. We enjoyed sitting down at the table and eating while watching the crowds come through. The STORE is wheelchair friendly, I was able to get my husband’s wheelchair in the store and around with no issues at all. Stop in and grab you a quick bite to eat or enjoy the sweets!!!!
My wife and I stopped for a couple of sandwiches before we had to drive back to Atlanta, and their food was amazing! I also got the best Apple fritter I have ever had in my life! Everyone there was super friendly. We will definitely be back every time we are in town.
My family has used Pollman’s for many generations. I decided to get a custard cup because I remember elders loving them. Very pleasantly glad I did, very good. The sliced roast beef is fabulous as well as this chocolate cupcake that I will save for later.

Purchased a birthday cake for my fiance who happens to love cake it’s her favorite dessert. Pick up the cake on Friday for her birthday on Friday. The cake was the worst cake I’ve ever had. It was dry to the point of cutting a slice of cake and it would just fall apart. The frosting was hard as if it had been sitting for a while and the cake itself tasted like almonds it was not an almond cake. It was like someone poured a bottle of almond extract into the mix. If I could give them zero stars I would. The worst part is not the money I spent on the cake but that it really ruined her birthday.
Update: Michelle from Pollman bakery did called. I appreciate that she called and wanted to try to make things right and offered me a new cake or refund.
