Publix is a “Great Place to Shop”….but George Jenkins is probably “Turning in his Grave” with the addition of “Self-Checkouts”. Better known as “Mr. George”. His Beliefs were;
Treat Customers Like Royalty
Mr. George firmly believed providing friendly customer service and royal treatment was the key to connecting with customers and building lasting relationships. He continually sought ways to make customers feel valued — through store presentation, products, and personal service.
He was quoted as saying, “The aim is to learn all you can about the business to do the best you can for the customer.”
I’ve never, seen “Self Checkout” accomplish what “Mr. George” believed in….
I’d give no stars for this particular store if I could. The people were rude, to say the least. I was charged FOUR times for TWO packs of chicken. They were bogo, so they all rang up half price. I told the girl at customer services that I was over charged. She refunded me for one charge, which I didn’t notice until getting out to my vehicle. She didn’t tell me how much she gave me, so I assumed it was the correct amount. I had to go back in to explain she still owed me for the other charge. Neither her nor the woman manager she called for help, could understand they still owed me money. She finally told the customer service girl to give me what I want so they can get me out of there. I’m sorry, but if you can’t do basic math, you shouldn’t work in customer service! If you have TWO packs of chicken, and there’s FOUR charges on your receipt, you should get back the extra TWO charged, not just ONE.
Had this been my first experience with Publix, I’d never gone back! I WON’T go back to the one in Decatur!!! I’ll drive all the way back to the one in Muscle Sheouls, where everyone greets you with a smile, and offers to unload your groceries into your car.
It always has what I need. Check their app for the coupons and prices are comparable. The employees are well trained and always willing to help. We love the car carts and the free cookies. Thank you, Publix!
Absolutely great staff, always friendly and helpful and have always been great with my little kids. Didn’t know they gave little kids free cookies in the bakery but they volunteered that info happily. Their subs and sandwiches are great; my wife LOVES their chicken finger sandwich. Highly recommend.
Great selection of meats, seafood produce and bakery items, very neat and clean , friendly service, easy close parking , checkouts are fast and efficient
