Such a great spot in mount Kisco! The food never disapppints. Friendly and family owned. Best lobster roll in town – perfect amount of lobster and soft potato bun. Salmon on Caesar salad also amazing and the baked clams are a must have!
The seafood paella is to die for. Robby was a great host. We want to go back and try everything else!
Very disappointing experience. I went with my mom to get some lobsters. This place had lobsters that are about $32. We started with shrimp cocktail to share. We got 4 regular sized shrimp in a big bowl of ice: $14. The lobster I got looked great from the outside,, but when i Cracked open the legs, white liquid poured out, no meat. I then cracked open the tail and I got 2 cms of meat. The rest was all white liquid Thank God there was bread on the table. My mom got some meat in hers, but I left there hungry, disappointed and $140 pooer. Not worth the trip.
Had a great dinner there last night. Robbie is an amazing host. Had the shrimp cocktail (with a couple of extras from Robbie because, hey, we’re nice people 😁). The swordfish was among the best I’ve had anywhere at any time. Cooked perfectly. The halibut was also flaky and delicious. Yeah, it’s not 5 star decor for sure, but who cares. Just go for the fish! We’ll be back.
I moved to the area 3 days ago and after doing a cursory look at Google Maps saw Conte’s 8 minutes from my new home. I thought this could become my go to spot for fresh fish. However, something was clearly fishy when I saw a rat enter the bush on the corner at the back. Upon entering the establishment on a Saturday at 6pm, I was greeted by a seated cantankerous gentlemen who clearly didn’t want a customer and should’ve told me he was closed. Not for nothing, Google says the place is open to 9pm but shame on me. At that point, I was accosted for not knowing who this man is, where I was and the history of his business. When he got testy, I decided to ask if his fish was brought in fresh or flash frozen. (It is well known that many local fisherman do flash freeze to preserve for freshness which is fine, otherwise, one would never be able to eat Pacific caught salmon and many other fish.)
I don’t think I’ve ever had an experience like the one I had at Conte’s. It was jarring and downright strange. 125 years of history and you would think the man running the place would show some degree of respect to a customer with kids outside who only wanted to cook them a meal. For what it’s worth, my 5 year old eats whole Sardines, head and tail. My wife is from Greece and we know fish.
The guy I encountered may be a very nice person to others, but I found him to be a colossal jerk. I’ll happily go down the road to Mt. Kisco Seafood from now on.
