5 Reviews on “Uncommon Grounds Coffee & Bagels Western Avenue”
I can never say enough good things about uncommon grounds, everyone who works there is great and the food is always fantastic.
Writing this review I’m tempted to go eat there now. Were they open at least.
Edit, ate there again today. A perfect healthy harvest bagel always hits the spot!!
A REAL BAGEL JOINT …. great true bagels… fair prices for great sandwiches… how that other >bagel shop < in town is open ,I truly wonder..... good service, a bit to HIPPSTER for me . But a good overall feel .. Take your money here ,we'll worth 5min drive more ..lol
If I had to define the place in two words: Amazingly Fresh! Amazing coffee ☕️, the best bagels 🥯, the best giant size cookies, and the healthiest available options!
Try their Healthy Harvest Specialty Sandwich for $5.85:
Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Cucumbers,
Green Peppers, Sprouts, and Cream
Cheese or Dressing. However, I recommend Hummus instead of Cream Cheese for a little extra cost.
Or “Create Your Own Masterpiece” Bagel Sandwich starting at $8.25

Their bagels are the best I’ve had around the Albany area.
The staff are just not good at contact with the public. They are not pleasant. Who wants to see an annoyed person at breakfast?
Next, there is a huge wall of baskets to hold bagels. When I was there on Sunday morning, 3 baskets had bagels. So, 3 flavors. Plain, sesame, and onion. A guy came out of the back with a huge tray of poppy seed while we were checking out. Missing: Everything, Cinnamon Raisin, Honey Wheat, Garlic, Rosemary Olive, Jalapeno, Pumpernickel, Oat Bran, Salt, Cheddar-Parm.
To me, this points to bad management. If I owned this place, I’d send in a close friend to see if it’s being run well.
This is not a request to fire people. Please mention to the kitchen that they’ll need to figure out how to stock the front end. Please mention to the servers, say “high good morning” and smile. Smiling alone, by itself, can make the server happier.
When a small business knows how to do it, they thrive. Every uncommon grounds is always warm with customers. Great coffee, always a free trade option. Also, In my experience, the order process is smooth, start to finish. I’d always recommend this place, great since the 1990s.
