5 Reviews on “Ahmed Indian Restaurant ALB”
Amazing!!! Loved the food here. Great vibes! The mutton biryani, the chai, the pakora, and the korma were truly delicious. I was happy with service and atmosphere. Although, I believe food is the main point. The waiters were respectful and attended to us so well. Thank you so much for a great experience.
I tremendously enjoyed the variety of the foods at Ahmed’s Indian Restaurant, also know as “Spicy Mint”. The dishes for the buffet were all so tastefully prepared. Also, an employee helpfully explained how to prepare a certain street food. Everything was delicious! Thank you so much! I highly recommend this restaurant.
Ordered desi chicken roast, chicken jali kabab and pulao for a small gathering. Food was very delicious. We asked chef not to add any nuts due to food allergies and the chicken roast was still very good. Thank you for being very patient and courteous with us.
The storefront still says Spicy Mint, as does all of the signage, but the menu is labeled “Ahmed”.
I think they are still ironing out some service kinks… they had only one person manning the front of the restaurant (3 tables). While friendly, he was clearly new to the job, so this review just focuses on the food…
… which had phenomenal flavors. We ordered the grill mix, which was cooked perfectly and came out sizzling (but there was a piece or two that was room temperature and I suspect it was reheated rather than cooked fresh). The eggplant dish was delicious, but I did have a few “off” bites, as if the eggplant was verging away from fresh… which is understandable as its very hard to keep perfect eggplant at a slower restaurant if few people order it regularly.
Still a five star rating on the food, as it really had a wonderfully authentic flavor profile and the restaurant has the potential to become a top contender for best in the area, if given more patronage (and with some time and experience).
We will visit again and look forward to the restaurant finding its way to the top.
I can’t forget that Peshewari Naan and Bombay Aloo. Two awesome items with perfect balance of spice. They asked us the spice level we would prefer. This is something indian restaurants usually do not ask. Loved that part. Two other items were onion naan (was good) but the Mughlai chicken, something was off about it. It could be the balance of sweet or the salt was not right. I felt like I am eating a thik gravy. I believe the tea was over brewed and to balance it more milk was poured in. That’s just an opinion as I know taste of tea is very subjective. Besides all of this the portion of one order was good for two. I think they are underrated by themselves. I would recommend them to change the whole seating arrangement. Also, update your restaurant name to Ahmed Restaurant. It was hard to find it.
Spend $36 for two. (1. Mughlai Chicken came with choice of rice/Naan, Aloo Naan came with Rice/Naan)
