Ama Cocina is back open after having closed down during the pandemic. The food and atmosphere are the same as before offering delicious Mexican dishes in a fun environment. Gluten free corn taco are available but no separate fryer for nachos.
Best tacos I’ve had in a long time! Great tequila selection! Sarah was awesome! Very convenient to Hampton Inn downtown.
Stopped by for a quick dinner and it was a great experience. We didn’t have reservations but they were able to accommodate us immediately. We had the street corn (absolutely amazing), empanadas with queso (also delicious), carne asada tacos (great flavor, steak cooked perfectly) and the chorizo burrito covered with salsa verde. Everything came out quick and was nothing short of tasty/flavorful. Ended the night with some hibiscus margaritas! I only wish the tacos had a second tortilla- it was so yummy but the taco ripped from the steak juices and sauce lol so delicious though. I’ll be back next time I’m in town.
I had a great Valentine’s Day meal at Ama Cocina. It is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Albany in my opinion. I recommend getting the pitcher of margarita for the table. You can choose between a few different kinds, we decided to go with the strawberry. The pitcher came with free chips and salsa as well, which I think is a great idea. Between the two of us we both had four margaritas and had to get an Uber home but it was such a great time!
Our waitress brought over a new glass with ice and sugar rims every time we went through a margarita. I was very impressed with the service and the attention to detail we received from the staff. The guacamole and queso was delicious and I would definitely get it again when I go back. The tacos were all good but I have to admit the barbacoa was my favorite one. It had a great flavor to it that I never had before. I can’t wait to go back. Thanks!
Had to try this place!! I never went to the original so I can’t compare it but hands down the best tortila chips I ever had!! Pretry much a la carte. The service was great, attentive and friendly. The margaritas were delicious. The birria tacos, quesadilla and fried chicken burrito were all very good. The rice was a little undercooked. Definitely will be returning!
