5 Reviews on “Jimmy s Egg Albany”
Very nice and convenient interior design and very welcoming staff. I just wished that the food was also good. At some point we all stopped eating, due to severe health concerns. The onion and some of the potatoes were so fried that they were extremely bitter, and the oil in the hash browns and toasted muffin tasted like grease or even worse, indicating that it was probably left over from (at least) the previous day. We were there 7:30 in the morning.
It was probably the worse taste in all my restaurant breakfasts that I had in the region in the past few years. We felt the grease taste until this afternoon. Why not simply change the oil from previous day (s) to give the food a fresh taste and respect customers’health?!
The egg you see pictured with a lot of egg whites uncocked was ordered to be well done clocked. And the omlette was uncocked well in the middle, tasting like hand soap. Definitely didn’t worth the price, what so ever 🤢🤮
UPDATE: 2/19/23: This visit wasn’t quite as good as the first. The Eggs Bennedict was over cooked and the home fries were actually burnt; I’ll eat crispy but these were burnt. Our server never returned to see how our meal was so we couldn’t comment until after we were finished. Lowering my review from 4 to 3 stars.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: 2/12/23: I find it interesting that the majority of Yelpers who give poor ratings about how horrible the food is provide no photos. Show us how bad it is if you’re going to say it’s bad. For us, the service and food were both quite good.
This was our first visit to Jimmy’s Egg and we were impressed with the menu and all they offer. One nice thing about their breakfast dishes is that you can choose your side – they don’t automatically give you bread and potatoes. What a nice change!
We did start with a cappuccino which was more of a latte – it seems our server didn’t quite know the difference or how to make one.
For our meals, we chose the Classic Benedict and the Biscuit & Gravy Omelette. The eggs in the benny were perfect. In fact, I heard someone in the kitchen say, ‘keep your eye on the benny’ and the response was that there were 20 seconds left. Seems they have a plan in place for making poached eggs. While another Yelper here said they disliked the hollandaise sauce, we found it to be good and tasted as it should.
The B&G omelette was good but I have to admit, I probably wouldn’t order it again. I choose it because, for the price, it offered an omelette with ham, sausage, bacon, and cheese and included a B&G along with two sides. The B&G is served on top of/or in the omelette which I found odd. Next time I’ll opt for the Biscuits Gone Wild which offers the same as the omelette for $1 cheaper and just one side.
The bacon is described as slow-smoked. It definitely is smoked. I guess I haven’t had smoked bacon before…not my favorite for a morning meal.
It seems the restaurant chain has a few locations in the South which helps explain why they offer sausage gravy dishes and cheesy grits – both are two of our favorites.
The restaurant was clean. It was not loud (as another Yelper complained about) and our server was quite pleasant.
I ordered the pumpin patch breakfast. Sausage, bacon, eggs, and pumpkin pancakes. All was good until I got to the center of the pancakes, raw uncooked pancake batter in both. Guess this restaurant is a one and done.
Great place for breakfast and lunch! Nice and clean, open and airy. The service was fast and friendly. Our waitress was very helpful.
I had a biscuit and sausage gravy with 2 eggs with hash browns… The biscuits and gravy was excellent! My eggs were done perfect and the hash browns were delicious, was crisp and browned. I have to say the biscuit was truly outstanding and the sausage gravy was as good as I ever had down South! Definitely worth another visit tho we don’t live nearby! Beats a fast food chain restaurant hands down!
As a side note, the restrooms were very clean and well kept!
My first visit, as a manager, I alway observe the customer service, here all employees smiled, interacted with customers in a friendly happy manor. Food was out quickly and hot. Kudos to the leadership and staff of this location. Would highly recommend this location. Clean, open dinning area, great food, coffee not too strong great flavor.
