5 Reviews on “Maggie McFly s Albany”
The food came out really fast and everything was hugely portioned. We had a bit of wait time with our waitress but we did have a party of 12 people. I would definitely go again to try something different. Their menu can be very overwhelming. The photos I have is of my Sriracha burger and the BBQ Brisket with Mac and cheese and maple glazed sweet potatoes. The Sriracha Burger wasn’t bad but I was expecting it to be spicier. So for those who don’t like spicy thing could defiantly tolerate it. The BBQ Brisket was AMAZING. I would definitely order one just to take it home after having my other meal. I forgot to take a picture of it but my partner and I (in the party) also got a carrot cake and cinnamon cheesecake. I personally enjoyed both. They were very rich and filling. 5 out of 5 experience for the first go for sure.
The food was 10/10, the atmosphere was laid back and fun, & the location was prime.
Stumbled upon Maggie McFlys after just casually coming to charge my car at the Tesla chargers right outside the mall. Decided to pop in for some lunch while we waited for the car to charge. We ordered an appetizer and 2 entrees. In addition to a milkshake and a soda. Calamari for the app, a grilled cheese and the gyro. Everything was delicious! Service was fine, and the food came in a timely fashion.
I’d like to start off this review by saying, ive been here before, honestly, really enjoyed it. Came back because of it. Will probably never come again. Let me set the scene, it was a wednesday night, no reason to be busy. 5 waiters, and a host. The host was the best part of our expirenece. As the reseraunt was dead, they stuck my (party of three) next to a party of 8, with 4 VERY loud kids. The whole place was empty, and i was sat right next to there. Now i appreciate this isnt the resteraunts fault for the noise, but there was no effort to move us as our waitress didnt appear for about 10 minutes for drinks. As she came bsck with our drinks, we ordered right away. One buffalo chicken salad, and two of the specialty honey pork tenerloin- one with honey sweet potato, one with sweet potato fries. This food took around 55 minutes to arive after ordered. Again, there were currently 5 tables sat, as we walked in. You wouldn’t expect this wait, The waitress was no where to be found, so we couldnt even ask for a wait time. She seemed quite snobby, and was expremely unattentive. She went to go chat with friends before coming to us. Now i understand a wait, hut as the food arived, the salad was missing two key ingredients. The crispy onions, and tomatoes. The waitress said it wasnt missing anythjng, and we said, may we please see a menu because this isn’t right (as weve gotten the salad before and got it again vecause of how enjoyable it was last time) After around 10 minutes she comes back, we point out the missing thibgs and she brings out two bowls with the onions and tomatoes. As if this wasnt enough, we were finished with our waters, she left before we could ask for refils and we were unable to find her. Continueing with the dissaster of food. The plates were huge, with the smallest amout of food possible in the middle. The tenderloin was hard, cold. there was so much sauce, it saturated through the paper and made half of the sweet potato fries soggy. After we had been done with our food for around 20 minutes, she is still no where to be found. we were slighty on a time limit to get out of the mall before our entrance closed. and she gave us no check, snd no box since she was too busy chatting with her friends. To maggies- i wish your waitstaff was more attentive, and took greater effort into ensuring a good experience.
Oddly expensive and one bartender for the entire restaurant!
We dropped in here on our way from Boston to Indianapolis. We were on the road, and this was one of the few places that was open. We are not exactly fast-food lovers, so we opted for a sit-down dinner somewhere, and they were open. The place is somewhere between a bar and the restaurant. It doesn’t have the cozy vibe of some of the similar chains. likely because there were big TVs at the bar, which lent it sort of a sports bar atmosphere, although I don’t think that’s what they were going for.
The server was excellent; she was really on top of it, and she came by to apologize when our drink was so late. We noticed there was only one bartender, and at some point, our server avoided us a little bit, because clearly the drink wasn’t ready, and the food had already been brought, and she did not want to pass by us without the drink! To her credit, she was hovering around the bar, waiting for my drink. It was a cocktail, so I really wanted it before the food came out. A glass of wine with food is OK, but sipping on a cocktail while you’re having your meal feels a little odd in that it doesn’t really go with the flavors. Certainly a few sips after the meal or before the meal. But my meal was on the table for quite some time before I received my cocktail. I saw the bartender looking up the recipe. So I think not only was he the only bartender for the entire restaurant, but I think he may have been a bit new.
The food was very good, and I was prepared to think this could be a stop if we saw this chain in the future, but… then I saw the bill. It’s my fault. I didn’t have my reading glasses on, and I ordered shrimp tacos and tuna tacos, and I did not notice how much of an up charge they were!
Each shrimp taco ended up being $3 extra per taco and the tuna tacos were $3 extra per taco, so for three tacos, the charge was $28.80. That’s almost $10 a taco.
That’s a bit pricey! Especially just for a chain restaurant. They did come with rice and beans, but still, that’s the type of price you pay for a meal at a much nicer place. Again, I’m the one who didn’t see it, but I also never would’ve expected that much of a upcharge per taco in a restaurant like this. Maybe a dollar extra for shrimp or a dollar extra for the tuna, but wow, these ended up being quite an expense!
My husband liked his meal. It was a Cuban sandwich and sweet potato fries. In fact, he said it was an excellent version of a Cuban sandwich. They also charged us for soda water. Out of the gun. We always ask if they have soda water in the bartender gum, because they really should not charge for that. It’s just like ice or water. It’s not like they’re opening a Pellegrino. But they charged us almost 3 dollars and called it a club soda. Pretty cheesy really.
The server was quick to bring the check. So we could get back on the road.
So the quality of the food and server hovered around four stars to five stars, and the price was one star, and the bartender was a one star. So I just averaged to three stars for an overall experience.
We had been once before and had great drinks and food, so we took the family expecting the same experience.
Most unimportant, our waitress was decent, but never smiled one single time, …
