5 Reviews on “The Cobblestone Lunch Shoppe”
I ordered the Monday special, grilled cheese with tomato soup. The grilled cheese was made to perfection. Thoroughly buttered before cooking so that there was crisp all over the bread. Plenty of American cheese. Hearty tomato soup. I also tasted my husband’s macaroni and cheese. It was warm and creamy…so good! Others in my party ordered the grilled chicken salad, chicken noodle soup, mac and cheese, and Yo Eddie sandwich. Everyone was very pleased with their meal. If you’re not a regular, look at the menu ahead of time, and be ready to order when you get to the counter! They move people through quickly and rightfully so as a lunch spot in downtown Albany.
“Talking to Chris about the history of Albany. And the doorway! It felt like walking into another world.”
“Yea mom, but what about the food?”
“Oh my God, over the top delicious. The tomato soup was just like I make it at home. A comfort on a cold day.”
Thanks to Chris and the Shoppe team for an excellent lunchtime experience. And thanks for the potato chips! A little taste of home.
The fried chicken in their sandwich is unbelievably crispy and incredibly tender. I have never had a chicken sandwich like that in my life. This is not your average deli chicken cutlet or fried chicken sandwich, this a work of art.
The tomato soup had a lot of umami, was thick, and was like a tomato bisque. A little salt, a little sweet, and a lot of thick creamy goodness. Add some french bread and you may as well have some fine dining soup. I highly recommend you try it if your notion of tomato soup is what Panera serves.
The chicken noodle soup was good. I found dark thigh chicken meat in mine. Who puts dark meat in chicken noodle soup? I thought only dry nasty chicken breast was allowed. Fantastic soup and the noodles weren’t soggy and a pleasure to eat.
The ranch salad with some grilled chicken was good. They claim they make their ranch in house and you can definitely taste it. It was thick and had a parmesan kick to it. The vegetables were fresh and the chicken was tender.
We also got the peanut butter cookies and macadamia nut cookies. Both were soft, buttery, and melted in your mouth.
10/10, would recommend this place to people and go here again whenever I’m in the area.
Great spot to come to eat! The food was great, however I thought the prices were a bit high, if compared to Maurice’s down the street I feel I could get more for less with the same quality. I have to to say the staff were extremely friendly. The sandwiches we ordered were delicious. The chicken noodle soup was very hot and tasty. I would highly recommend but not as a everyday lunch spot, maybe a 1-2 time a week treat for your lunch time.
Cobblestone lunch shops was very disappointing. Owners Chris and Ed Richards really let this place go downhill quickly. Wouldn’t try this place. Much better delis nearby.
