5 Reviews on “The Delaware Restaurant & Bar”
Our party of four had a lovely dinner at the Delaware. I love the beautiful wall paper and gorgeous lights that they chose. The decor is welcoming and warm. Our server was attentive and responsive. I loved that they placed carafes of water on the table. We ordered the bread service from Rock Hill Bakery. It was yummy, although the butter was a bit liquidy. My husband enjoyed his Caesar salad and our friends both ordered the giant mushroom raviolis for an appetizer, which we all really enjoyed. I loved the curried pork tenderloin entree. The pork was perfectly spiced and so incredibly tender. The beans were also very delicious. The portions are very generous. My husband enjoyed the St. Louis ribs. Our friends got the eggplant rollatini and the Moroccan noodles (which was spicy and flavorful). All of the food was really well made, and we loved the generous portions. We will be back!
We had a very lovely Saturday night at the Delaware. The place was bustling and our table wasn’t ready quite yet, so we got a drink at the bar. Despite being slammed, the bartender was friendly and promptly served us a well made martini and negroni. The hostess sat us and our server was very attentive and friendly. The food was all outstanding. I loved the focaccia. We split the Caesar, which used a mix of both romaine and heartier greens and was perfectly dressed. The smoked Parmesan was delightful. The short ribs were cooked well and came in the perfect portion for us. And the scallops were pure perfection. We washed it all down with a very reasonably priced bottle of Bordeaux.
Between the service and food, we will be back to this establishment very soon.
Dating ourselves, we hadn’t been near Delaware Ave since Nick closed Cavalier’s. The Delaware looked unique, it had on street and parking behind the restaurant. We arrived early, wanting to sample their regaled cocktails, and were greeted upon entering. Escorted to the bar, where Zach was tending and suggesting, his Beverwyck and Careless Hipster were thoroughly enjoyed. The bar area and restaurant seating; in front with street views and more secluded behind the host stand, were inviting with a warm, friendly atmosphere. Their crispy goat cheese salad featuring tender beets with crunchy, gooey goat cheese was delightful. The succulent pork belly steak was delicious. But the two sizable lobster raviolis definitely were the nights special entrée. Topped with jumbo crab and accompanied with lobster butter and black truffles, they were tender and delicious with a to be enjoyed again take home portion.
My family and I enjoyed our dinner at The Delaware. Overall, the food was great. I ordered the vegan meatloaf and it was actually very good – not just good for vegan food. It was really flavorful and the asparagus was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was lovely and friendly. Service was slow (we enjoyed each other’s company, so not a big deal!) and they were out of multiple items on the menu, including the pear cocktail that I was looking forward to!
One of the factors for giving this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 was, no high chairs or booster seats. Our toddler sat in a regular chair for the first time, which was a fun milestone, but he also fell out of the chair and landed on his elbow. Fortunately, he was a good sport about it (no tears, just a matter-of-fact, “I fell out of my chair”). However, we eat out a lot, and this is the first restaurant we’ve ever been to that did not have a high chair or booster seat available. I don’t understand this because it’s just better for everyone to have the toddler strapped in!
We’ve been to this restaurant a couple times and tonight we were there to celebrate my Husband’s birthday. It was such a nice evening, great atmosphere with delicious food. Zach the bar manager/mixologist was serving us and he did a great job. He was very nice, made delicious drinks and helped us to make some really good choices off the menu. To start our night we ordered the “Danger Zone” and “Back for More” cocktails. Both drinks were very unique but had a great flavor profile which was a refreshing change from the standard cocktail drinks. For our starters we ordered the eggplant rollatini and the pork belly steak. While both were very good, the pork belly steak definitely outshined given the asian twist, with crispy outer pieces and a tender center. The Duck A L’Orange and the Sri Lanka Fish Fry were our entrees. I had the duck before and it’s definitely a star dish for those that like the sweet with the savory. The flavor combination is great with a huge portion. The Sri Lank Fish Fry has a wonderful light crispy coating paired with a refreshing slaw and mint chutney. Finally we ended the night sharing a warm toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream. Delicious!
