The food is very good and portions are thoughtful. Ordered the pan roasted gulf of maine salmon and it was well cooked and fresh. Everything on the plate was delicious and compared to all other meals in Albany, I did love my meal here. My only gripe would be that the food was too “heaty” (I’m not sure what the western equivalent of this concept is, but perhaps some cleaner elements could have balanced out the sauce).

I enjoyed the Dutch Baby cocktail but wouldn’t have it with the salmon because the spices in both tasted a bit too similar to me. Honestly can’t remember what the second cocktail I had was – a sour with egg white? The Dutch Baby was better.

    1. Recommend the rosemary salt bread.

    2. Both appetizers are 5-star materials. Carrot potage has a really delicate blending flavor with curry; Indonesian fried rice has the right amount of spiciness to light up the flavor, not to mention the runny egg and soft lobster.

    3. Entrees: scallops are good. I especially liked the crispy part on the top. Tenderloin is not so impressive. I would expect it to be less chewy and more flavorful.

    4. I love Donna’s French Cheesecake! It’s light and fluffy. So much better than New York Cheesecake 🙂

My boyfriend treated me to Yono’s for Valentine’s Day, and I have to say, Yono’s was probably one of the best culinary experiences I’ve ever had!

We had their special Valentine’s menu, which offered a 6-course tasting menu, and we decided to go with the wine pairings, which was an excellent choice. It was my first time experiencing the beauty of wine pairings, and I was amazed at how elegantly the wine enhanced each course – their selections of wines were *chefs kiss*

The complexity, flavor, and intricacy of each dish were phenomenal. The 6-course meal featured chilled creek oysters, butter poached scallops, root vegetable potage, foie gras, filet mignon, and dark chocolate gateau—each dish was a masterpiece and so beautifully presented. My personal favorite was the foie gras.

While Yono’s is definitely on the pricey side, it’s perfect for your fancy shmancy occasions. I’m looking forward to returning to explore their regular menu! (nom nom)

What an absolutely beautiful restaurant for occasions such as anniversaries, graduations, birthdays and more. My boyfriend and I went to Yono’s to celebrate our 5 year anniversary tonight and it was one of the best decisions we could have made. Not only was the staff amazing, helpful, attentive and sweet, but the food itself was some of the best food we’ve ever had. The experience was unlike any other and the wine pairings that go with the meal were amazing. We did the 3 course meal but the waitress let us know we could add a mid course or a 4th course (being one of the first course options) for an a la carte price which ended up working perfectly for us as we were able to share with each other and try different things. The espresso Creme brûlée was a highlight of my night seeing as it’s one of my favorite deserts, and the food portions are definitely enough to get you full. We will definitely be back!

We chose Yono’s specifically because my wife and I love chef’s tasting menus, but overall it was a disappointment.

The food was maybe 2/5 stars. The plates were not particularly inspiring or delicious. None of it tasted very fresh. And the timing was erratic with some plates coming too soon after the previous and some taking an eternity to come. We dined the last night before they were closed for the holiday weekend, so maybe the chef was already gone?

The wait service was 4/5. The wait staff were very attentive and professional. Far from a top notch fine dining experience but they were lovely people.

The wine service was 5/5. The sommelier was fantastic. She had incredible in-depth knowledge of all of the wines. She was super attentive and did her best to get the pairings on time despite the erratic timing of the kitchen. And all of the wine choices were great.

The price is comparable to other fine dining tasting menus we’ve done, but definitely not worth the price we paid.
