What a quaint beautiful place in the country just outside of Skaneateles. Attended an anniversary party, never heard of this place. Food is excellent farm to table and great service.

It is difficult for me to find anything on their regular menu that I want to order, and to my taste, the food here can be bland. But, the special prix fixe turkey dinner they serve around the Thanksgiving holiday is pretty good. Their flourless chocolate tart is excellent, as is the service. POST PANDEMIC UPDATE-1: It’s been four years since we last visited this restaurant. The special turkey dinner has lost a bit in quality. Instead of turkey carved from the breast, it’s sliced from a boneless turkey roll. However, the flourless chocolate tart, mushroom soup, ambience and service are very good.

Pretty, simple and early American style farmhouse overlooking the tranquil fields between Auburn and Skaneatales serves sophisticated, new American cuisine with the freshest ingredients. (The family’s farm stand opens nearby in summer so they know fresh … ) We loved our delicately spiced duck and crab-stuffed haddock dishes with perfectly cooked asparagus! Had a yummy house made pizza with artichoke hearts to start. Our wait person recommended the Thirsty Owl Riesling to pair with them, great choice. Desserts sounded amazing but we could not eat any more!!

Lovely converted barn like space. Post and beam with a large brick fireplace and some outdoor seating. We had tomato bisque – roasted and reduced with punchy flavor. This approach was consistent throughout our meal. Mushroom bisque was earthy and creamy. Sea scallops were floating in butter and cooked perfectly. We also had crab stuffed haddock. The crab was finely minced and sweet, the haddock was also cooked perfectly. Both mains came with a side of steamed asparagus, light and crisp, plus roughly mashed potatoes skin on. We finished with a slice of orange zest cheesecake with wild berry sauce. The orange was powerful matched with a caramel crust, whipped cream and the mixed berry sauce. The fresh bread was dense and salty (white) and sweet (whole grain). A glass of wine and a glass of hot cider finished it off for just under $125, plus tip. Service was friendly and enthusiastic.

This place is fine dining at its best! The food from beginning to end was perfect and delicious in every way. The service was impeccable and the ambiance was beautiful. I highly recommend the prime rib. Get a bottle of wine and try the stuffed mushrooms. I guarantee you’ll be glad you did. I travel across the country extensively Monday through Friday, and I eat at some of the finest restaurants and this place is top-notch. Fresh and local. Keep up the good work folks. I’ll definitely be back when traveling in the area again.
