5 Reviews on “Mama Philo’s African Cuisine”
First time ordering here tonight from Uber Eats. The jollof is tasty however the other items is a miss. When I removed the two pieces of chicken from the okra stew, it’s a little bit of stew. More stew could of been added for sure. I ordered an addtional swallow thinking it be enough stew. The moi moi is not cooked! I had a similar experience years ago with the moi moi at another restaurant. I should watch some videos to learn how to make it. Overall not a great first experience.
Traditional African food found! Egusi, Pounded Yam, Moin Moin, Suya, Jollof rice with chicken, Goat meat pepper soup, you name it. I can’t not found elsewhere have such abundant African cuisine. Service is superb. Everyone is super friendly and accommodating. Delivery service is neat and accurate. Food is delivered very fresh and tasted. I highly recommend!
First time and last time. Jollof rice not tasty.cost is too much for quality. $45 for one wrap of eba and vegetable soup of 3 meat and jollof rice with veggies at the side.
I ordered through ubereats because I live about 30ish minutes away and always wanted to try african food. The dish I’ve been dying to try was their egusi/pounded yam (fufu.) I bought the egusi with chicken (they give 2 huge drum sticks), I am so happy with my experience. I assumed I’d love the chicken more since that was something I was more familiar with but the egusi (melon seeds) was the star of the dish. Next time, I think I will just get the egusi itself with no meat! Pounded yam (fufu) tasted like flavorless mashed potatoes which went very well with the egusi. I absolutely loved this dish. I also ordered the jollof rice with chicken (2 huge drumsticks) and .. omg divine. It was AMAZING. i loved it. I shared these two entrees with another person who also fell in love with the dishes. Both were 10/10. My only complaint is the meat pie because it was leaning towards the drier side & the dough was very thick but because the larger entrees swept me off my feet, it made up for the meat pie (it did not taste bad, just did not compare to egusi/jollof rice.)
I was pessimistic at some point but just decided to follow my guts.
The meal was nice and the server was amazing. Beautiful smiling lady.
