5 Reviews on “Country Life Jerk”
Kind and friendly service. The food tastes like someone’s mom made it…because she did! Some of the best roti and curry chicken I’ve had in ages. As other reviews said, the jerk chicken isn’t too spicy, but with the rice and peas it’s a great meal with lots of flavor that continues to build on your tongue.
Best escovitch snapper I have ever had ( and I have had many). Fish was juicy, just the right amount of seasoning and spiciness. Had it with roasted breadfruit, fried bammy and sweet plantains. The owners, Bobby and Karen make you feel welcome. Not as well known or glitzy as overrated The Door and others, but definitely worth the trip or call.
Today was the first time I visited this restaurant. I came here hoping to find the same jerk chicken I tasted a long time ago when an neighborhood auntie cooked some. I ordered jerk chicken with rice and beans (mixed with some kind of sauce). I was a dollar short, but the very gracious front desk person didn’t mind. While I was waiting for the food, I was admiring the cleanliness and the homely ambiance of the restaurant. Soon I got the food and hurried back home. As soon as I opened the lid, the smell and the look of the food captivated me. I knew immediately I went to the right place. I didn’t wait any longer. I dug right in. I was right. The food took me back at that exact moment when I had my first ever jerk chicken. I am so glad to have a place like this so close to home.
Walk in and get the authentic feel of a home cooked Jamaican meal. Wish I ordered a variety of different dishes because my kids mouth was on fire but he loved it. Pair your jerk chicken dish with the sorrel drink – tastes like a tropical ginger beer. Cabbage was cooked soft and not soggy. Get your jerk chicken fix at the country life. Worth a visit.
The cow foot red peas soup.. it’s craaaazy been going there over 3 years now
