5 Reviews on “Carson s Woodside Tavern”
This is a great pub hidden away a bit about a mile from Route 9 with views of Saratoga Lake. We ate here 2 times in the past couple months and were happy with both dinners. Most of us ordered burgers or sandwiches and they were all very good. The buffalo wings were also good – cooked crispy – but probably could have used a bit more buffalo sauce. We will definitely be back.
Food was very good. The view was specalculator. I would recommend eating here if ever in the area. My burger was cooked perfectly and it was excellent. The servers here make sure everything is to your liking.
We arrived here for a quick late lunch around 1:30 pm, but it took some time for the waitress to seat us, despite our lunch hour nearing its end. Another ten minutes passed before we could place our order. Our food finally arrived at 2:10 pm, as shown in the picture I took. This seems to be the typical pace of service in this area. We opted for the turkey sandwich with sweet potato fries, which tasted delicious but was larger than expected. Once again, we ended up sharing sandwiches. The dry rub chicken wings were flavorful but too dry for my preference, coated in Cajun seasoning.
The food was OK for bar food. Great atmosphere and totally packed. Had to wait 45 min. for table. Not many vegan options.
We went here with our family about a year and a half ago and it was very nice service food and all. We have since tried to go with our family of 5 and the waits have been horrendously long. 1.5-2 hours to get a table inside or out we are told. I am sure if it was a rainy day when it is off season this would likely not be the case. It would not be so bad if we could make a reservation or call in to be put on wait list. From a business prospective and based on the restaurants responses in other reviews they seem to not care about this and simple respond in ways such as “good then don’t come back”. Not a great move from a business prospective but to all their own. Anyways a good example of a restaurant that is very high volume yet seems to master in situations like this I feel is Texas Roadhouse. They have a very interesting system where you can make reservations and you get a wait time and then you show up to restaurant check in and wait your turn so it still may be a wait as they don’t hold tables but at least the wait is under 30 minutes once you are there. I think this would be an interesting business model they should consider. By using this model it will allow people to both have the convenience of making a time to dine without having to physically show up and then leave and come back (no one wants to sit in a car for 1.5-2 hours because often the bar is full and the outside seating to wait is full). From a business prospective this would not hurt the restaurant like reservation can when a table sits vacant. I understand this review will most likely result in a response from the venue of a negative nature(based on other responses from negative posts)but I feel this is a unbiased review of the situation. Hopefully this will inspire some change
