What an amazing hidden GEM!!!
My mother in law booked this place for us for our rehearsal dinner and we had the most amazing and special experience.
I didn’t get to work directly with the owner since my MIL managed the logistics, however, all I heard were great things! And I saw proof of it as well. The fact that the owner opened the the restaurant on the day they were closed just for our party of 35, curated our menu, and flexible throughout (we booked this place a week before the rehearsal dinner date) says so much about this place!
Not only was the food great, but the decor, the ambiance, the fact that the restaurant is on the river – made our dinner so much more special! We even sometimes think that night was better than our wedding 😉 and that’s saying a lot!
A little hidden gem in Newburg. The food was great and the atmosphere was even better. I could only imagine what it’s like in the warmer seasons. I had the chicken and waffle and the steak and eggs, and they were both great. Pamela, the owner, came and said hello and made sure we were having a good time and made sure our food was good.
Great restaurant for any occasion, Raina our server was attentive friendly and fun.
There was little to nothing that redeemed this experience. Sure, it overlooks the river. But it’s at a yacht club, so the foreground is a bunch of boaters and their various motorized vehicles and a boat gas station. This wasn’t as annoying as it could have been, because it actually gave us something to watch as we waited and waited for someone to take our drink order (after waiting and waiting to even be sat). The food took a while to come out, and tables that were sat after us had food before we even had sodas. We had to ask for silverware and napkins. When we arrived, there were only 2 other parties there – it was quiet and not at all busy. And all of this could be excusable if the food was delicious, but it wasn’t. It wasn’t bad, but it definitely wasn’t good or worth the price. Everything was underseasoned. If tuna tartar on a tortilla chip needs salt just to coax out some flavor, it’s not a good sign. A poor couple near us picked up to leave after waiting so long for their food and found the server en route to their table, so they came back to eat. But it wasn’t cooked the way they requested, so they left without eating anything. So it wasn’t just our experience. With so many other, better options nearby, this place just isn’t worth it. They may achieve mediocre on a good day, if you’re willing to wait for it.
What a hidden gem. Great view, great service, great drinks, great food. We will definitely be back. We had calamari, salmon and filet mignon all were delicious. It did get a little busy by the time we finished, so I would suggest hiring another server or two. But our servers, the Sals, were great.
