5 Reviews on “Symi Restaurant”
I recently dined at this restaurant and it left me utterly impressed. From the moment I stepped in, the ambience captivated me with its stunning decor and soothing lighting. The staff were incredibly attentive, ensuring that every need was promptly met with a warm smile. As for the food, it was nothing short of extraordinary – each dish bursting with flavor and expertly crafted. And let’s not forget about the drinks; they were simply superb, perfectly complementing the exquisite meal. Overall, this restaurant exceeded my expectations in every aspect, making it an unforgettable dining experience that I can’t wait to repeat.
The ambiance is very nice, great bar, the food is fantastic. I typically don’t eat octopus, but this was amazing. I ordered the whole fish sea bass and I loved it. The menu might sound different, but everything we ordered was great. We enjoyed the food and service. As locals we will definitely go back.
*update to the lack of kaluha “situation”. They now do have it in stock. And there is a great story of how my father brought a bottle to give them as he intends to be a regular I am sure, but they got it in stock for him and sent him home with his bottle unopened. Great customer service. And a pretty funny story if you here the longer version of course.
This is the old Vespa. Where its predessessor was dark and moody in feel, the decor is beautiful and bright now. They really hit Mediterranean feel on the head here.
Drinks were good, though they don’t have kaluha, they use the offbrand version. The pineapple vodka was smooth and refreshing, though not very potent somehow. The mojitos were tasty.
The food: they recommend the Symi chips, but honestly, they are basically tempura batter on eggplant slices they come out very fast, but also luke warm. There’s no crisp like you’d expect from a chip, flavor was fine, but really lack luster overall.
The pits bread and tsaziki was traditional and good.
The calamari was average. While the marinara was good, the calamari itself i described that night as “meh”. I would not order that as an appetizer again. The breading lacked flavor and they seemed nuked rather than baked or fried missing the crunch aspect.
When ordering your meal expect the whole fish or sea creature when ordering. I feel that’s something that should always be told to patrons as some people have a big aversion to the presentation. You’ll see what I mean in the photos. The tiger shrimp is what I ordered and while it was good, the plate comes with 2 on it and it’s as much of as the steaks at around 56 dollars for the plate. Flavor wise, it’s simply a denser shrimp. I wouldn’t order it again simply because I don’t enjoy shrimp as much as I do steaks in general. The sauce that it came with was flavorful and had a hint of spice.
We had Michelle as our bartender/waitress and she was pretty attentative overall and really pushed Thursday nights. She left at some point and we had no idea. Our bartenders after that were friendly enough but weren’t as personable as Michelle had been and towards the end of the night were so engrossed in conversation with themselves it took us 3-4 mins to catch their attention from 3 feet away. They gave us a complimentary drink for their oversight.
Overall it was a good evening, albeit loud. Not a little loud, but yell to be heard by the person next to you kind of environment. Not top choice for a nice dinner and conversation but a good choice overall.
Bill for two people having full meals and multiple drinks was over $200.
Had an amazing experience at Symi in Northport today! The renovated space is beautifully decorated and feels like a Greek island getaway. The service and food were top-notch, with the octopus and whole fish being highlights. The broccolini with feta was a perfect side, and the lemon potatoes were full of flavor. Finished with espresso and dessert. The staff was attentive and provided great recommendations. I can’t wait to return.
Started with a very nice greeting at the door, inside of the restaurant was done very nicely. Started with some cocktails then for appetizers had the eggplant and zucchini chips. As well as the grilled octopus. Both fantastic. For mains we had a whole fish and lamb chops. Of the 4 things we tried could not pick a favorite all were very very good. Service was top notch.
