I’ve been coming here my whole life, the pastrami sandwich is amazing, but my favorite thing to get is a hot dog. Simple, but my favorite hot dog I’ve ever had. The decor hasn’t changed one bit since I started going there, and it’s a welcomed space, frozen in time, with a unique charm. Limited seating– a few booths and a counter– but I’ve never had to wait for a space. Don’t forget to get a cream soda with your meal!
Where does this deli even get a basis for its prices? If you come here be prepared for an outrageous total. No where is $17.50 acceptable for a simple turkey sandwich.
Best place I’ve ever been to for corn beef/tongue on rye. Best good kosher deli meat

Great neighborhood Deli store. Try their signature sandwiches. So yummy 🙂
I used to frequent this place when I worked local and it was a 2nd best to Katz’s deli which is a big compliment. It was always a special treat. I have not been at the Kensington Deli in several years. Maybe as long a pre covid.
Yesterday I was back in town and knew where I was getting lunch. I ordered ,my usual Kosher deli go to, a hot dog with Mustard and Kraut and a Corned Beef Sandwich on Rye with mustard. All I can say that’s positive it I think the Mustard is the same as it used to be.
The hot dog was luke warm inside and the outside not charred. There was no pop on the first bite. Had I not already paid, I would have cancelled my Corned Beef sandwich when saw them take a deli paper wrapped portion (small portion) of corned beef and pop it into a microwave and then put the whole paper wrapped portion into a panini press-what the hell?
The corned beef was obviously machine sliced as no human can slice meats that thin. The sandwich was not worth the 25 cents I put in the meter to park outside on Middle Neck Road. The sour pickles were so rubbery that I took one bite and tossed the rest. I am in sales and travel a lot and I have my spots when I work in certain areas. Sadly, this place has now been crossed off the list. I hope I save someone else the disappointment of a place that has fallen from a great place to look foreword to eating, to a place to avoid.
I am not sure if it was sold, or maybe they dropped the quality of the ingredients to “make a profit” but I paid 21 dollars, plus tax for a sandwich and a HD and I wish I went somewhere else. If the food were as good as I remembered, I could have accepted the pricing.
On the plus site, the staff is a nice and as friendly as can be,
I hope the ownership reads this and fixed the problems for their own sake.
