5 Reviews on “Seoul Bystro”
So initially, I wanted to rate this place 5 stars. Stopped by tonight with my fiance.
Ratings on the dishes ordered – (portion sizes great for sharing)
1. Kimchi pajeon (3) good flavor but just okay. I’ve had better.
2. Tonkatsu (3.5) it was meaty but was not tender. Arugula salad on the side was a nice touch.
3. Beef sooyook (4) was good. Would’ve liked the broth it was sitting in to have a hint more flavor since the bean/mung bean sprouts release a lot of water.
5. Beef yukgaejang (5) – best dish of the night. Would come back for this alone.
For drinks, I had the omija cocktail which was nice and refreshing and my fiance ordered a bottle of soju.
Food was good to the point we were planning our next trip back while eating thinking of which couple to bring with us.
They were playing a great mix of kpop including EXO which had me say, I’m going to give them 5 stars for this and the food.
So here’s where it went downhill. We were done with the food and stacked the empty plates aside. The place had a main bartender and 2 other staff members. The place was not busy. 3 tables (including us) and a couple at the bar. The main bartender’s attention stayed focused on just the couple sitting at the bar and I would say the other 2 just kind of stood around and at one point, 2 were prepping what looked like a takeout order.
From the time we got our food until we were done neither of servers came by to refill our waters nor ask how everything was or asked if we wanted anything else. We wanted to order their 2 desserts and more drinks but the lack of service was so off-putting, it put a damper on the night we had intended. It’s a shame because we would’ve easily spent another $50 – $75 on drinks alone.
On average, we tip 20% and more if the service was great but we left the standard 15% disappointed with the service and lack of attention. Because no one was acknowledging us, my fiance got up and asked for the check. Even on the way out, not a single goodbye or thank you. Given it is a grand opening, I will like to give them another chance to redeem themselves. There is potential for this establishment and would love to be able to come back and enjoy the place.
Wish I took more pics. But the food looked too pretty and tasty we just jumped right in. Great vibes for the weekend night out with friends or dates. Strongly recommend their sooyook dish and aglio olio pasta. Glad we get variety of Korean cuisine at Sunnyside
Highly recommend this place. Good food and drink selection. Must try their pork belly and rose tteokboki. Also, they have a variety selection of Korean traditional, high quality, craft drinks. Cozy atmosphere allows you to have an intimate date night or great time for friends gathering. Definitely will come back here and the service was very excellent.
We visited during the Sunnyside Restaurant Week. The food was great and a very unique style of modern cuisine combined with Korean dishes. They only had 1 server but that’s not his fault. Everything else was great!
Foods good friendly owner would recommend .. hope they stick around but it does look empty sadly please support em
