In my opinion, Publix is the only place to get your birthday cakes.
Way, Way better than Walmart and Dairy Queen. The price isn’t but a dollar or two higher, but the cake will shake hands with your taste buds and you will know it was a good deal 🙂
After a visit to Bath and Body Works at Cherrydale Point, I stopped by Publix Supermarket at University Square. This store replaced the old store which is next to the new and improved Publix. It’s a really nice store with nice and friendly people working there. The hot food bar has a big variety of foods, baked chicken, fried shrimp, fried cod, fried chicken tenders, corn, Mac and cheese, turnip greens just to name a few. They have the sushi station, and the deli on the opposite side for you deli meat selections. I plan on visiting this location again, when I’m in the area.
I ordered a simple 7” cake with white buttercream. I didn’t ask for any decorations. When I picked it up, I noticed that the icing on the top was smeared but figured I could fix easily. I brought it home and put it in the fridge. This morning I pulled it out of the box to put on the decorations I had planned for it only to discover that the sides were equally as bad as the top and I could see cake through the sides. It was all around sloppily iced. I guess people no longer take pride in their work.
I called the bakery and they told me my options were to bring it back for a refund and that they wouldn’t be able to replace it. A simple iced cake with no decorations could not accommodated. Frankly, I was appalled that they could not make this right, on the day that I needed it nonetheless. I will not order a cake from them again being as that such a simple request couldn’t be properly handled or corrected. So now I have to figure out how to fix this cake before my son’s birthday party- bc it’s not like I have a million other things I need to be doing at the moment
Just recently opened and our first time in the new Publix. Beautiful. If I worked nearby, I could eat from the deli every day and not have the same thing twice. The olive bar has a great selection. We stopped in for one item. Walked out with much more.
Stopped by today 4/18 around 430. Wanted to get a mixed piece chicken. All were cold and the box we got ALL pieces were extremely Small and the chicken was dry. What in the world has happened to Publix???? You were always rated number 1 on grocery stores but now you guys rank poor in my book. Will NOT be buying anymore chicken
